3-D Implant Planning

Cutting-edge 3-D cone-beam technology has changed the game when it comes to replacing teeth, minimizing postoperative problems and restorative challenges for the patient.

A 3-D cone-beam image shows a surgeon exactly where bone structures are within the jaw before, during, and after oral surgery.  These digital images can also be made into a computerized model of a patient’s bone, ensuring the implant is placed where it will have the best quality, dense, supportive bone while avoiding critical structures that should not be impinged upon, such as blood vessels and nerves.

Intraoral scans from the Planmeca Fit® system can also be incorporated to make sure that the placement of the implant and the design of the new crown are in alignment.  A surgical stent can be designed digitally and fabricated, to be placed on the patients jaw at the time of surgery to assist the surgeon in placing the implant in the exact location that the digital planning has designated.
